The following are recent
questions and answers from my online gambling advice and tips page.
Question: Is surrender a good option to take when playing blackjack? Neal
Answer: Neal, Surrender is one of the most underutilized plays in Blackjack. Many Casinos don't offer surrender since it gives a reasonable advantage to the player. Here is a rule to live by if you are playing Blackjack online. The player should surrender if he has a 15 vs the dealers 10 or a 16 vs the dealers 9, 10 or Ace. You'll lose these bad hands 75% of the time. That's why its better to surrender and give up half your bet when playing these hands. The best place take advantage of this surrender rule is at
Aspinalls. Their game offers surrender and the dealer stands on all 17's.
Question:
What do you think are the best games to play in a Casino? Jay
Answer:
Jay., In my opinion they are the games that require the most practice and knowledge of the game.
My top 3 choices would be Poker, Blackjack and Video Poker.
Question:
What is the best betting progression for blackjack. CW
Answer:
C.W., -This applies to all games that have a 1 to 1 payoff. There's a bunch of various progressions out there. You have flat betting ie 1-1-1-1-1; or 2-2-2-2-2, you also have 2-1-2-3-3-4-4-5, 1-2-3-6-10, 2-3-4-5 etc.
IMHO they are all equally as good and equally as bad. Since outcomes are random and not predetermined, the performance of a system is only as good or bad as the random outcome that it is associated with. C.W., I would be more concerned with not overextending your
bets in relation to your bankroll.
Question:
I'm a blackjack player. What blackjack rules should I be looking for in order to give myself the best advantage? R.W.- Alexandria
Answer:
R.W.-Good Question. Blackjack has many variations and the Casinos often change them from table to table. Here are some rules to live by.
Always follow your blackjack basic strategy, play tables that have the dealer stand on a soft 17 this is a big plus for you.
Avoid 6 to 5 payoffs for blackjack play those that pay 3 to 2. Avoid any game where 17 ties/player loses. The fewer the decks the better. be careful with this one.
They may lure you in with a single deck with lousy rules along with it. You also want to look for a table that allows you to double on at least a nine thru eleven.
Follow these and you'll be on the right track
Question:
My buddy and I play craps in Atlantic City. I like to play the Big 6 and Big 8. My buddy says it's a sucker bet. I've won a lot with it! Who's right? J.T. Albany
Answer:
J.T. He's not your buddy, he's your best friend. The Big 6 & 8 is a bad bet (See my Craps vig chart) Here's why. You get paid 1 to 1 if you win on the Big 6 or Big 8.You're better off placing the 6 or 8 for a payoff of 7 to 6. It's no surprise that you're winning since you have 10 ways to make a 6 and 8 versus six ways to make 7. Your problem is not what you're betting.. it's how you're betting!
Question:
I read your Casino Bonus section. Good Tips! What are these Non-Deposit Bonuses? Are they for real? G.A. St. Louis
Answer:
G.A. Yes, these bonuses are for real. Many good online Casinos offer these. Its free money from the Casino for joining. I've seen the amounts range from $5 to $25.
It's not much, but it's better than nothing! However, I would place more importance on the reputation and Terms and Conditions of the Casino in comparison to a Non Deposit Bonus.
Question:
I've read where it's better to play a Roulette wheel that has a single zero. Is there ever a situation where a double zero wheel would be better? T.K. Memphis
Answer: T.K.
Yes, if the waitress looks like Pamela Anderson. Seriously, try not play double
zero wheels. You give back about a 2.70 house advantage. Most serious Roulette
players abide by this rule!; I definitely would play at
Aspinalls
since they
offer a single zero wheel.
