How the game is
played
The object in baccarat is to bet
whether the banker's hand or the player's hand will end up
with a point value at 9 or closest to 9. The hand with the
highest value wins.
All ten-value cards count as zero and aces
count as one. All other cards are the point value indicated
on the card. If a hand total is more than ten points, just
subtract ten. The balance is the baccarat point value of the
hand. An example would be: 9+3=12, this would count as 2.
Each player will place a bet on the either the player's
hand, banker's hand or on a tie. A tie is when both hands
have equal point values. If the outcome of the game ends in
a tie, bets on the banker and player neither win nor lose
they are considered a push.
All winning bets pay even money. Note that if the banker
wins, the house receives 5% commission. A tie pays 8 to 1.
If you win by betting on the banker, the casino adds on a 5%
commission that is subtracted from your winnings. What this
means is-- if you bet the bank and win, you win 95% of your
bet amount.
Baccarat is one of the best games to play!
Few people are comfortable with Baccarat since it is often
associated as a game with high table minimums. This is a
fallacy. The house edges are very reasonable. The banker is
1.17% and the player is 1.35%, the banker has a marginal
advantage.
The the tie bet has a house edge of 14.1%. I recommend
staying away from this bet since it's one of the highest
house advantages in the casino.
